I notice it's been a super long time since I have written anything down here... Actually, scratch that - It's been a while since I have really interacted with any part of this site. It used to be nearly daily that I would post silly little trinkets in people's comment sections, or befriend & support other artists around here. I bet the handful of you who still remain are asking the same question I am. What happened? I guess to put it simply, I got old. I'm going to be hitting the stiff back'd, wrinkly old age of 23 in a week. (don't laugh, in these kinda spaces that may as well be middle aged) Sometimes the stuff you found cool or funny as a teenager doesn't quite hit the same rolling half a decade on. You can try doing the same thing over and over again, but eventually the shine will fade. Like, the culture of Newgrounds is one that's constantly trying to emulate it's heyday... It gets to the point where it starts to become formulaic. It feels like I've already seen every trick this site has to offer a thousand times over... I guess all I want now is a plain space to upload my creations. Instead, what I got here was a place where I feel you're expected to build up and manage your own little persona, so all your fellow dysfunctional artsy teen peers think you're cool... I no longer crave that kinda thing, nor do I have the time for upkeep. I'd rather put that energy into something that feels more authentic to me. As cliché as it sounds, I went outside. I touched grass. This internet stuff hasn't nearly amused me as much as it used to since I discovered I can instead play around, create and connect with others IRL. You can call it a change of perspective. (or if you're pessimistic, call me old & jaded lol) This site was fun for me while it lasted, but I think I've largely moved on by now. Don't worry, this ain't a resignation letter. I'll still use this site as a place to post any drawings or creative thingies I've been working on, but just don't expect much interaction-wise from me. So yeah, before I go for tonight, kudos to anybody I've made chums with along the journey. Especially to anybody who's actually still around to read this. You guys can be inspiring, stylish, immensely skilled, offputting, hilarious, disturbed and all around strange... Gotta say, I've found no place quite like this one. So yeah, I think that's about it.
